Welcome to Wool n Weave

 Special Moments

There are special moments in our daily lives that make all the hard work and effort worthwhile.  We experience these moments often when our customers tell us that they love the shop or that Wool ‘n Weave is their favourite destination. We have also found that children cannot resist coming in to the shop, they are fascinated by the colours. We recently had a visit from a little boy, about 5 years old. His Mom told us that Wool ‘n Weave is his favourite shop, he then told us that he likes it even better than the toy shop!

What a blessing, to know that the shop brings joy into the hearts of young and old alike. For this we would like to thank you, our customers. Without your continued support and commitment we would not enjoy this privilege. We especially thank you once again, for braving the road works and the chaos that has characterized our roads this year.

We would also like to thank all of you who made jerseys and blankets for the Robin Hood Foundation and beanies for CHOC. A special word of thanks to those who gave gifts for the ‘Adopt a Granny’ campaign. Our storeroom has looked like Santa’s grotto for weeks! To Robin Hood and all the other amazing people who give up their time to help others, we salute you.

We wish all our customers a blessed and restful time this Christmas with family and friends and our prayer is that you will experience the Christmas message of forgiveness and restoration as we celebrate the birth of Jesus.  We also wish you a happy and blessed year in 2010.

Next year will be an interesting year for us as South Africans as we host the FIFA World Cup™. With preparations well under way and over half a million fans expected, it is up to us to prepare ourselves and our beautiful country to make them feel welcome. They will be guests in our home, let’s pull together so that when they board the plane to return to their own countries they say, “We’ll be back”.

And whether we are soccer supporters or not, let’s be proud supporters of South Africa, both the team, Bafana Bafana, and the country. Let’s plan to wear the green and gold with pride and to fly our colourful flag high over our Rainbow Nation. And most of all, let’s not miss the biggest nation building opportunity that this country may ever see.

End of year

Wow! Where did the year go? Christmas goods are in the shops and everyone is looking forward to the end of year break. With the economic climate as it is, people are being very careful about what they buy as gifts. At Wool 'n Weave we have a practical gift for everyone, from mohair socks and blankets for grandparents to puzzles, crafts and clothing for the little ones.

There are hundreds of original gift ideas in Lillies Quarter alone so before you have a nightmare visit to the big Malls, give your local centres a visit. You will be amazed at the selection and the competitive prices.

Grannies, why not give the gift of a lifetime and teach a child to knit or crochet. Join us for a Grannie and child day during the holidays, more details in store.

Summertime knitting

For some people the warmer days are a sign to pack the knitting needles away until next year while others are blessed to be able to knit all year round.

However, many who cannot use normal yarns are still able to knit with cotton or bamboo during the summer months while others find that crocheting is much cooler than knitting as you do not hold your work in your hands. If you cannot crochet, Wendy our crochet teacher will have you proficient in a very short time.

Knitting smaller items also helps and our beautiful Stretch wrist warmers will make great Christmas gifts. Free pattern available.

There are other crafts that you can enjoy if you cannot handle yarn during the summer. Cross stitch is growing in popularity and is easy to learn. There is a Cross Stitch Guild which meets every month where members inspire and encourage each other in their craft.

Tapestries are also lots of fun and the finished product is a masterpiece that you can hang on your wall.

And don’t forget the children.  Teaching them to take a little time out each day to do a craft will help relieve the stress and will teach them to balance their lives; an issue many of us struggle with these days. A craft will also keep them away from the internet and mix-it which wouldn’t be a bad move!
